Tony Coveney
Tony Coveney is the Chief Financial Officer of ThomasLloyd Group and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2006. In his role as the firm's Chief Financial Officer, he was instrumental in building the group-wide finance department of ThomasLloyd Group and all its relevant processes and systems, including reporting and controlling. In addition Mr. Coveney is responsible for ThomasLloyd`s investment banking business. Prior to joining ThomasLloyd, Mr. Coveney held senior management positions at Citibank and Bank of America in London. Most recently, he served as Head of Treasury and Investments at Riyad Bank in Saudi Arabia. Over a 25 year career in investment banking, Mr. Coveney has held executive positions at Lazard Brothers and N.M. Rothschild. Between 1992 and 1997, he was a special adviser to the Prime Minister of Great Britain. Mr. Coveney is a graduate of the University of London in Modern History, Economic History and Politics, and is a member of the Securities Institute. He is a British citizen.
Arnold Owen
Managing Director, Investment Banking Americas
Arnold Owen is Managing Director of Investment Banking Americas. Prior to joining ThomasLloyd, Mr. Owen served as Managing Director and Head of Private Placements at Merriman Curhan Ford & Company, a San Francisco based Investment bank. During Mr. Owen’s tenure at Merriman placements grew from $1 Million U.S. to almost $1.4 Billion U.S. in under four years. Previously, he helped launch the Private Placement practice at Cruttenden/Roth (presently Roth Capital). Prior to Roth Capital, Mr. Owen was a Managing Director and the largest shareholder at SoundView Financial Group. While at SoundView, Mr. Owen ran the team that grew SoundView into one of the premier Information Technology Investment boutiques of the 1990s. Mr. Owen began his career at Salomon Brothers, in New York City, spending over 11 years at the company serving as Vice President of Equities. Mr. Owen has a BA in Psychology from the City University of New York. He received an honorable discharge from the United States military (1966-1968). He is a U.S. citizen.
Michael G. Airey
Managing Director, Investment Banking Asia Pacific
Michael Airey is Managing Director of Investment Banking Asia Pacific. Prior to joining ThomasLloyd, he set up his own financial consultancy, raising capital and sponsorship for start up companies in technology and infra-structure. Mr. Airey joined the brokerage firm, M. W. Marshall and Co. in 1978 assuming a broad variety of responsibilities. During his 22 years with Marshalls, Mr. Airey held a range of senior positions in London, before becoming the CEO of Asia Pacific in 1991, and appointed as a main board director of the Marshalls holding company in 1995. Since 1991 he has lived and worked in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. In a career spanning 30 years, Mr. Airey has built a significant portfolio of clients and connections primarily in the Asia region. He is currently an adviser to the Asian Senior Golf tour. He holds a degree from the University of Bradford, UK and spent 2 years in South Africa after his graduation. He is a British citizen.
Jerry J. Szilagyi
Managing Director, Investment Banking Americas
Jerry J. Szilagyi is responsible for the Financial Services sector of ThomasLloyd’s investment banking business. Mr. Szilagyi is also responsible for the management of ThomasLloyd’s U.S asset management business including its Johnson Illington Advisors LLC subsidiary.
Prior to joining ThomasLloyd, Mr. Szilagyi was Senior Vice President Business Development for Integrity Mutual Funds, Inc., a publicly traded (Nasdaq: IMFD) investment management and brokerage firm. At Integrity, he was responsible for the development and execution of the company’s overall business plan and strategic growth initiatives. From 1998 to 2003, Mr. Szilagyi was the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development for Orbitex Financial Services Group, Inc., a global asset management company. At Orbitex, he was responsible for expanding its business in the United States through acquisitions and other strategic transactions and initiatives. Before joining Orbitex, Mr. Szilagyi was a Senior Manager in the Consulting and Corporate Finance practices of KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP where his services included: merger and acquisition advisory, strategic and profitability analyses, product development, and business restructuring advisory work for asset managers and other financial services institutions. He was also a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Consulting practice at Price Waterhouse. Prior to his consulting experience, Mr. Szilagyi was a Director of Business Planning and Financial Analysis at American Express, an internal consultant at National Westminster Bank, USA and a registered representative for First Investors Corporation. Mr. Szilagyi received a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from New York University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Szilagyi was selected to Beta Gamma Sigma, the national business honor society. He is also a recipient of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Mr. Szilagyi is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and the CFA Institute. He is a U.S. citizen.
George Mackenzie
Director, Investment Banking Europe
George MacKenzie is Director of Investment Banking Europe. Prior to joining ThomasLloyd, Mr. MacKenzie served as Director of Fixed Income at the Credit Agricole Group where his main responsibilities included building money market and other fixed income distribution businesses capable of selling products to investors across the UK and Europe. He has also held similar business development roles at ABN Amro and Bank of America. Mr. MacKenzie began his career in the Corporate Investment Bank at Bank of America Securities focusing on the Industrial and Natural Resources sector, advising clients on M&A, capital raisings, and other investment banking opportunities. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Franklin and Marshall College. He is a U.S. citizen.
Philipp Rusch
Senior Associate, Investment Banking
Philipp Rusch is a Senior Associate of the Investment Banking Group. Prior to joining ThomasLloyd, Mr. Rusch was an Associate at UniCredit’s Markets and Investment Banking division in Munich, Germany. He worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group and completed numerous transactions in various industries ranging from Special Chemicals to Automotive and Machinery. He also worked on several internal assignments related to the merger of UniCredit’s Hedge Fund operations with Ramius Capital and the sale of the company’s ETF business to Barclays Capital. Previously, Mr. Rusch worked at Arthur Andersen and the United Nations. Mr. Rusch started his banking career at Credit Suisse in Switzerland. He holds a MA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland with major in Finance and Capital Markets. He also attended Ph.D. level course work at Ludwig Maximilians University, Germany, focusing on asset pricing and distressed equity valuation. He is a Chilean and German citizen.
