08 November 2017, Negros Occidental, Philippines

ThomasLloyd has laid the cornerstone for North Negros BioPower, a biomass power plant with a capacity of 25 megawatts (MW). The project is situated in the north of the island of Negros, and from the end of 2019 it is supposed to generate renewable energy from agricultural waste for some 265,000 people. Once it goes into operation, North Negros BioPower will also create more than 3,000 permanent new jobs in the power plant and in local agriculture and save 20,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) a year.

In addition to many other guests, a ThomasLloyd delegation of over 100 was invited to the official groundbreaking ceremony. In addition to a large delegation of European finance experts and providers of capital, many high-ranking representatives of politics, business and the media in Asia took part in the ceremony, as well as representatives of project partners and institutional investors.
