The spread of the Covid-19 virus has caused similar reactions in India and the Philippines as in most other countries. In both countries, governments imposed strict exit restrictions on all citizens – currently until 14 April in India and 30 April in the Philippines. At the same time, both countries have classified power generation as an essential service. This means that our local workforce can continue to operate and maintain our power plants and ensure local power supplies.
Especially in these difficult times, ThomasLloyd takes its responsibility as a pioneer and bridge builder in these regions particularly seriously: Our local affiliates are authorized to provide resources for immediate assistance at any time. On the island of Negros, for example, our trucks and trailers are used to transport medical protective equipment to hospitals. In the capital Bacolod, a field hospital is currently being built – financed by donations from ThomasLloyd – to provide additional medical capacity.
At the same time, we are working with the local government and police to ensure the safety of our employees at all times. Our management is in constant contact with our local colleagues, partners and stakeholders to help them meet current challenges.
