GROUNDBREAKING
NORTH NEGROS BIOPOWER
November 8 2017, Negros Occidental, Philippines
ThomasLloyd laid the foundation stone for North Negros BioPower, a biomass power plant with a capacity of 25 megawatts (MW) in the Philippines. The project, located north of the island of Negros, is the third power plant that, starting in late 2019, will generate renewable electricity from local agricultural waste for about 265,000 people. Once in operation, North Negros BioPower will also create more than 3,000 new permanent jobs at the power plant and in local agriculture, saving 20,600 tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) per year.
Over a hundred of ThomasLloyd representatives were present at the groundbreaking ceremony along with numerous other guests. In addition to a large delegation of European financial experts and investors, many high-ranking Asian political, business, and media personalities as well as representatives of the project partners and institutional investors attended the ceremony.
